Scubapro R-series case recovery tool precision-machined from stainless steel for removing corroded valve bodies.

The Scubapro R-Series Case Recovery Tool is used during the routine service of older or high-mileage regulators. Technicians frequently encounter severe corrosion and salt bonding between the internal valve body and the surrounding plastic housing. Attempting to force these components apart with standard workshop pliers or incorrect wrenches can stress, crack, or completely ruin the brittle plastic regulator case.

This valve body holder tool is engineered to prevent that costly damage. By engaging and anchoring the internal poppet assembly housing, it distributes rotational torque evenly across the metal fittings rather than transferring destructive stress to the plastic threads.

How It Works:

  • Strip the second stage down by removing the front cover, diaphragm, and exhaust tee according to the service manuals.

  • Slide the case recovery tool into position to securely engage the Scubapro poppet assembly housing from the inside of the case.

  • Use the built-in 8mm hex adapter on the back of the tool with an appropriate socket, or grip the flat outer section using a 14mm (9/16 inch) open-ended or adjustable spanner.

  • Apply smooth, counter-clockwise leverage to break the corrosive bond and unscrew the valve assembly from the plastic frame.

  • Extract the corroded valve components for ultrasonic cleaning or replacement while leaving the plastic case threads completely intact.

Configured to lock perfectly into Scubapro part number 11.190.105 (Poppet assembly housing).
